pictures 077 (custom).jpgMLI International Schools are pleased to offer the Dept. of Education/ACELS - recognised short TEFL certificate course for state qualified teachers. This 40 hour (30 hours face-to-face input sessions and 10 hours guided assignment) course enfranchises graduates to teach EFL to juniors (secondary-level) in recognised schools. It is an internationally recognised certificate.

Entry onto this course is restricted to those who have completed or are in the final year of a PGDE/H. Dip or B. Ed.

The application form must be accompanied by one of the following documents as appropriate: 

  • Copy of B. Ed. / H. Dip (Education) Certificates
  • Letter from conferring institution attesting that course of study has been completed and that results/certificate are pending.
  • Letter from the conferring institution attesting that the candidate is undertaking the H. Dip (Education) or is in the final year of the B. Ed.

This course enfranchises graduates to teach EFL to juniors only in recognised EFL schools.class_room.jpg This course does not enfranchise graduates to teach EFL to adults, it is not possible to 'top up' or add on to this course in order to enfranchise graduates to teach EFL to adults.

Course Assessment:

Participants are required to have attended 95% of the input sessions and to complete all course assignments. The end of course assignment counts for 40% of the overall grade, the 5 assignments count for 35%, the microteaching counts for 20% and in-class tasks count for the remaining 5%. 

picture.jpgUpon successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a preliminary certificate, graduates are required to undertake and pass a supervised teaching component (STC) which normally takes place in the candidate's first teaching post in a recognised school/institution. The recognised school/institution is required to provide direction, monitoring and evaluaton of the teacher's performance bv their DOS/principal/senior ELT professional who will complete, sign, stamp and return the STC form to the teacher who will copy the form and send that copy to ACELS for full recognition and registration.
