The Centre

The University of Cumbria in Lancaster is one of the university’s sports bases providing students with a quality range of facilities on-site such as the multi-purpose sports hall for basketball, volleyball, badminton, 5-a-side football and short tennis as well as an astroturf pitch for outdoor sports.

Accommodation is located on-site in Waddell Hall offering single study rooms in an apartment-style setting.

Each apartment consists of 5 to 7 bedrooms with study area, a shared kitchen, lounge and bathroom. Laundry facilities are also available on-site for students to use during their stay.

Homestay accommodation is also available with local families in Lancaster within easy travelling distance of the centre.

The City

Located in Lancaster, just over an hour away from the two great northern cities of Manchester and Liverpool, students will find Lancaster to be a friendly and welcoming city.

Known as the ‘Little Big City’ it is a location famous for outdoor activities such as fell running and walking, both popular in the nearby Lake District and Forest of Bowland.

Formed in 2007 the University of Cumbria is one of Britain’s newest universities, developing from the roots of Cumbria Arts, St Martin’s College and the Cumbrian campus of UCLAN. Each of its three campuses are located within walking distance of student-friendly cities, including our chosen centre in Lancaster city.
